Please note the changes to the rules which are effective as of October 6 2008.


1. These rules are liable to change at any moment.

2. Race directors' decision is final.

3. Any class with less than three (3) drivers for five or more weeks of the pointscore will not get trophies.

4. Lipo batteries are not to be used in any class other than 2wd Stock.

Novice 

  • Motors are to be 27 turn 540 Stock motors.

  • Batteries to be 7.2v, six cell and as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix). No LiPos allowed in this class.

  • Any 1/10th scale electric on-road car (sedan, Mini, Formula-1) may be used – these cars are all to comply with these rules as well as those relating to the style of the vehicle.

  • Drivers only allowed to run in Novice class only – no cross entering allowed.

  • Weight of car is same as that relating to the style of the car when race ready:

  • 2WD = 1200g;

  • Tamiya M-class = 1350g;

  • Touring car = 1500g.

Tamiya Mini

SCRUTINEERING WILL BE CARRIED OUT.

  • Tamiya M01, M02, M03 and M03L "Front Wheel Drive" chassis only.

  • 540 Stock (see Appendix) or Tamiya Sport Tuned motors only. RPM limit is 23000.

  • The largest pinion to be run is 20 tooth.

  • Electronic speed controllers may be used.

  • Tamiya Hopups permitted as per the Tamiya Radio Control Guide Book - ie parts must be used on the chassis it was designed for.

  • Any tyres, inserts and rims may be used provided they are Mini size (touring car tyres and rims not allowed).

  • Bodies must be BMC style Mini - Tamiya, HPI and Frewer bodies are allowed. BMW style Mini allowed for M03L only.

  • Minimum weight is 1350g race ready.

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • No re-engineering or lightening of cars allowed.

  • The use of GPM steering knuckles for M03 is allowed.

540

SCRUTINEERING WILL BE CARRIED OUT.

  • Motor is either the Johnson 683 540 motor (grey endbell) or the Tamiya standard kit motor. No tampering with the motor allowed. RPM limit is 19000.

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • All wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

  • All cars must be 1/10th-scale electric touring sedan cars.

  • Maximum width of all cars 195mm (for club events 205 mm is tolerated).

  • Only one wing can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

Trans Am

  • Body shells to be pre- 80's.

  • Motor is either the Johnson 683 540 motor (grey endbell) or the Tamiya standard kit motor. No tampering with the motor allowed. RPM limit is 19000.

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • Minimum weight is 1500g race ready.

  • Preferred tyres & rims are the HPI Vintage series.

Stock

  • Motors to be stock (see Appendix) or brushless stock motors with a 13.5 sintered rotor.

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • All wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

  • All cars must be 1/10th scale electric touring sedan cars.

  • Minimum weight for all touring cars 1500g race ready.

  • Maximum width of all cars 190mm (for club events 205 mm is tolerated).

  • Only one wing can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

2wd Stock

  • All cars must be 1/10th 2wd cars. The Tamiya 4WD Formula One car is NOT able to run in this class.

  • 2wd drive only - direct or independent.

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • Minimum weight is 1200g race ready.

  • Cars may run either a 540 Stock motor (see Appendix), 27 turn Stock motor (see Appendix) or a Tamiya Sports Tuned motor.

  • Tyres are open.

19 Turn

  • Motors for modified must meet required specifications (see Appendix).

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • All car wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

  • All cars must be 1/10th scale electric touring sedan cars.

  • Minimum weight is 1500g.

  • Maximum width of all cars 190mm (for club events 205 mm is tolerated)

  • Wings: Only one can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

Modified

  • Motors for modified must meet required specifications (see Appendix).

  • Batteries as per AARCMCC specifications (see Appendix).

  • All car wheels must be completely inside the guards of the body.

  • All cars must be 1/10th scale electric touring sedan cars.

  • Minimum weight is 1500g for six cell and 1430g for five cell race ready.

  • Maximum width of all cars 190mm (for club events 205 mm is tolerated)

  • Wings: Only one can be used on any car. No more than 30mm x 150mm.

APPENDIX

MOTORS:

1. Only approved motors may be used.

2. Motors for Stock, 19 Turn and Modified must be on the AARCMCC approved list (click here) and must comply with these rules.

3. 540 Stock Motors: as per AARCMCC rules (click here). RPM limit on these motors is 19000.

4. Tamiya Sports Tuned motor RPM limit is 23000.

5. Any driver found to be using an illegal motor will be immediately disqualified from the race he/she is participating in.

VEHICLE BATTERIES:

1. Only batteries as per the AARCMCC list and rules (click here).

2. All batteries must be commercially available for hobby use.

3. Batteries may not be changed during a race.

4. Batteries must bear manufacturer's identification on either the unopened total pack or on each individual cell. If the identification is missing the user must prove the legality of the cells to the race directors' satisfaction.

5. An additional battery pack may be used to power the radio systems only.

Lithium Polymer Battery Rules

General

  • ROAR approved Lipo batteries only as per current ROAR web site listing.

  • Batteries must be factory sealed in a hard case that can withstand impacts as per ROAR testing procedures. No soft cased LiPo's allowed (for car battery).

  • No modifications are allowed to the case and/or the battery. Any physical distortion, denting, splitting of seams, puncturing or damage to the hard case of the LiPo battery will deem the LiPo battery to be ineligible for use.


Specifications

  • Must not exceed 7.4v – 5400mah.

  • Minimum rating of 20C .


Procedures for Charging and Use


  • Whilst charging and/or discharging, batteries must be contained in a LiPo sack or other device (fire mitigation device able to withstand and contain a destructive failure without showing a flame).

  • Electronic speed controls are to have either an inbuilt or an external cut-off electronic device installed that will not allow the battery to discharge below 6 volts minimum. It is up to the driver to prove that the cut-off is installed if in speed control.

  • LiPo capable chargers are only to be used. It is recommended that LiPo batteries are charged at a maximum charge rate of 1C.

  • Overcharging is not allowed (voltage higher than 8.4v).
